Making sure you get paid, and on time, is critical to any business. This session covers what you need to know about adding interest and collection charges to overdue accounts, how to locate debtors who have disappeared, and what you need to know about the legalities of collecting overdue debts.
This session, run by an ex Court Bailiff also covers an introduction to the legal processes of debt recovery, how to improve your chances of winning in the Disputes Tribunal, how to initiate legal action in the District Court, or utilize field agents to visit debtors. Learn how to enforce a Court Order or Judgment by having the court seize property, or deduct payments from a debtor’s wages, place a security over a debtor’s property, or have a third party owing money to a debtor instead pay the money to the creditor. Discover how a debtor can be made to do community service, or be made a bankrupt if they don’t pay.
Also covered will be recent changes to the Insolvency Act, proposed changes to the District Court Rules and the Disputes Tribunal Act, and how these changes might affect the chances of a creditor getting paid.
For anyone who extends credit and wants to get paid this session is a must. Getting paid starts by having well prepared Terms of Trade, having a basic understanding of the legal process, and knowing a few basic facts and strategies that will be covered in this session.
