Year ended 2007's going to be a good one!
Well the hard part of the year is over, you have paid all your tax bills and the next payment is not for a few months!

Now you are a bit more relaxed its time to think again about how to get things right for this year. We hare put together the following selection of courses designed to help get this year on the right track:

Investment Ready - Nobody said investors where happy to give their money away (just watch BBC's Dragon's Den), but if you understand the process and their needs you may just get that investment you need.

Business Growth - If you have been trading for a few years and just a bit of adrenalin (a few hard questions and new ideas) then this series is for you.

Business Development - This course is designed for new businesses (trading) or businesses looking for that clear business plan.

Start-Up - Please pass on to your friends and family details of this course, designed to help people looking to make that decision of stepping into a new business.

Investment Ready
Understanding the process of obtaining finance is relatively simple, but getting there is often much harder.The purpose of the Investment Ready Programme is to provide you with practical advice on investment and show you what you can to do to maximise your chances of success.

The workshops cover a number of themes, including:

Understanding the capital raising process
Understanding what investors look for
Preparing your business plan
The legal implications of raising funds
How to find an investor
How to close the deal.

Business Start-Up
Thinking of starting a business for the first time? Our two-part series, held in June, provides a comprehensive background for entrepreneurs, including what to look for when launching a business and how to avoid pitfalls. 

In the first workshop, we’ll help you assess the viability of your business idea, and discuss the attitudes and thought processes required to be in business. In the second, we'll introduce you to the physical steps of getting your new business up and running, and discuss possible business trading structures and compliance issues. 

The series is presented by David Potts and is open to entrepreneurs who are not yet in business.

Business Development Series
Once you have launched your business idea, it’s important to constantly reassess your company model and structure. Our Business Development Series helps you to build your company into a flourishing success through strategy and marketing.

The series includes four key workshops:

1.   Business Strategy - Why is my business going to succeed?

This workshop explores how to achieve performance excellence by creating a vision for your business, establishing direction, and working to achieve and maintain excellence.

2.  Marketing 1How does market research benefit my business?

Marketing is the art of finding profitable opportunities. To do this well you need to know who your customers are, who your competitors are, and how you will connect with your customers. We’ll show you how in this workshop.

Tuesday 6th June, 5.30-8.30pm

3.  Marketing 2How can I target marketing to benefit my business?

This workshop discusses the practicalities of marketing, including packaging, advertising and competitive pricing.

Tuesday 13th June, 5.30-8.30pm

4.  Business Action Plan - Just do it!

A good business plan is a living document that is in regular use. Learn how to make your plans work to the very best for you!

Tuesday 20th June, 5.30-8.30pm

Learn how to maximise your business potential, including how to communicate your aims and ideals to your team. Hosted by Melissa Clark-Reynolds.

Are you Ready to Export?
Interested in exporting but unsure where to start? This workshop is for you if you have limited export knowledge but can see potential in the international marketplace.

Are you Ready to Export? is designed to give an overview of the export process while providing an assessment of what is required to take on the world.

We’ll answer your questions and throw a few your way, such as:
  • why export, and is an international audience the best marketplace for your product?
  • what are your local and international growth opportunities?
  • how far and how wide do you want to aim?
We’ll also provide you with a few practical techniques, including:
  • an overview of the realistic side to exporting, such as freight, finance, pricing, packaging, foreign exchange, documentation and terms of sale;
  • an assessment of export strategy, including research, marketing and promotion;
  • individual follow-up coaching, available after the workshop.

These workshops are delivered as part of the Enterprise Training Programme, aimed at upskilling the owners and operators of small and medium enterprises to help them develop and grow their businesses. The programme is fully funded by the Government via New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) and is complemented by follow-up coaching designed to enable you to implement what you have learnt.
